Show Notes Transcript

Can you all believe it’s now the end of 2021, and it has been a year huh?  For today’s episode, I’m going to walk you in doing your own end-of-year review.  And why would we do this?  This is so important to get yourself ready for the new year.

Before you can plan the new year, you really need to review where you are in your life now.  What have you done for the past year?  By doing so you can see what IS working for you and what isn’t.

Next intentionally decide to let go of what is no longer serving you.

Take out a journal and start writing.

Here are some questions to get you ready to take on 2022. Take 15 minutes to change your life by answering the following questions.

  1. What happened in the last 12 months both personally and professionally?
  2. What were the lesson(s) of each thing you experienced that you can take with you this year?
  3. Who were you in January 2020?
  4. Who are you now?
  5. What are you still holding onto from 2020 that is taking up space (mentally, emotionally, physically)?
  6. What will there be room for when you let all that go?

This is episode 38. And this will be the final episode for this season. And we'll be completing an end of year review. So you might be thinking why this is important. And I will be telling you here in a bit, so stay tuned. So for today's episode, I'm going to walk you in doing your own end of year review, I know that we really don't like these, uh, when we're working in corporate or if your nonprofit it does these as well. We just really don't like to have to write about ourselves. But it is so important to do these end of year reviews to see where you are right, the company wants to have a point for you, we oh, this is where I was at the beginning of the year. And this is where I am now. And so we're going to do an interview review, which hopefully is a little bit less painful than yourself. evals for work. So now why would we do this? Like why does it matter to do an end of year review, it is important for so many different reasons. The number one reason is so that you can get yourself ready for the new year, right. Because if you don't know where you are, you don't know where you need to go. And if you don't clear out all of the bad juju, if you don't clear out all the things that are still on your mind that happened in 2021, whether you are consciously thinking about them or not, you can't make room for something else, you can't make room for the new things. It's like if you have a closet filled with clothes from all the different years, and you never got rid of anything, you'd never really have space for anything, and you'd really wouldn't know what was in there. So it's important to you know, clean out your closet every once in a while and really think like, do I really want this or not. So again, this is important for a variety of reasons. And so I won't bore you with that. Before you can plan the new year, you really need to review where you are right in your life now, what have you done in the past year, and by doing so you can see what is working and what isn't working. And then after that you can intentionally decide to let go of what no longer is serving you. Right? Once you review the questions that I'm about to give you. They are just five questions. And so the way I'm going to walk you guys through it is I'm going to read the question and then I'm going to answer the question for myself. And then at the end, I'll repeat the questions again, so you can journal on them later. So for right now, all you have to do is listen to my own review. And then at the end, you can, you know, listen to the questions, write them down. And then if you'd like to share with me, I'd love to hear what you not necessarily what you wrote down because it could be very, very personal but what your thoughts were of the process. And it doesn't take very long I did this probably took me about 15 minutes or so. So question one is what happened in the last 12 months, both personally and professionally. So for myself the last 12 months. In regards to my business in the beginning of the year, I had two annual workshops that you manifest your vision and bullet journaling one on one. Then in the beginning of the year, I was really focused on launching my podcast I launched the manifest your career podcasts on March 4, I released 30 episodes, this bean number 3839. Really if you count episode zero and then I had a four week break in the summer I add that because you know during those weeks I wasn't continuous asleep doing episodes, I did take a break in the summer for next year, I'll see where I do my breaks. And as of today's recording, I have 3869 downloads. The podcast was heard in 67 countries, 694 cities, and 87% of my listeners identified as women. I had two group coaching launches. And throughout the year, I directly worked with 26 women. I do a one to one coaching there, my group coaching my workshops. And then through my podcast blog, website newsletter, I reached about 8019 people. When I was digging up these numbers, I gotta say, I was really surprised at the large number of it. Because you know, my mailing list right now is probably a little bit over 100. And that's with including your people subscribing and unsubscribing. So when I saw those numbers, my next question, I will elaborate a little bit more of what I thought about that. So question number two is, what were the lessons of each of the things you experienced that you can take into the next year? Right. So one of the lessons that really stood out was never under estimating the impact I'm having in my community, right, because never would have thought that I had had over 600 listeners listening to my podcast, over 7000 website visits. And this is my current website, which I switched over from Squarespace to Kajabi, in the middle of the year, so I'm not even counting whatever visits I had prior to July. And, you know, what I'm doing is helping others, even if they never work with me directly. I'm helping them right, I'm helping you, you listeners, the people going to my website, I am helping them in some capacity, maybe it was just stay in a ha moment for them. That really was a catalyst. And I may never know that right? And not because these people are like, Oh, I don't want to tell her she helped me but because you know, when someone inspires you, you just get caught up in that momentum. I know, there's plenty of website, there's plenty of sites, you know, that I've visited that I have, you know, receive some sort of benefit from that I never directly email the person and say, Hey, I really enjoyed this article, or this really impacted me in this way. So really, that was one of the biggest lessons here for me was never really under estimating the impact that I'm having. And it really motivates me to go into the new year thinking like, I got to keep doing this and not just because you know the impact I'm having, but because I truly enjoy doing this, right? That's what we all want to do. We want to have an impact. But we also want to enjoy what we're doing and when you can do both. It's an amazing experience. So the next question is, who were you in January 2021. And I was reading the question and thought, OMG, who was I definitely motivated, because I had just had my workshops, I was pumped to have them to work with clients and see their year unfold. You know, 20 was so rough on everyone. At that moment in time, you know, the vaccinations were being really so it just really felt like finally, we're going to be able to move forward. Of course, 2021 had its own idea of how it would unfold. But really, it's really grateful to have survived 2020 was really probably what I was feeling at the moment. So who am I now? Right? So that's question number four. Who are you now? So who am I now? Geez. So I reviewed the year right? I was putting all this together. And I thought, wow, you know, now I am so humbled. As a business owner, you really focus on the bottom line, so much, right? How much money am I making? am I breaking even because at the beginning, it just feels like you're constantly paying for something. A web platform, a pod has a podcast host server, your coaching, etc. Like something always feels like it's taking your money. Right? If you are focusing on that, and definitely, that is something that I'll be working through and working on. Because if I go back to question number one, and see the impact, you know, it's completely worth it and the rewards are going to come. It's just something that needs to build momentum, right? Like a snowball and really shifting my mindset to what I'm doing matters and all of the pieces are really in truly falling into place. Oh, right. Okay, so I'd like I said, five questions, actually six questions. So question number or five? Or what are you still holding on to from 2021? That is taking up space mentally, emotionally or physically. So this question might feel a little tougher, you know, for me, this is me being completely vulnerable on my three. And I will start with the easiest one for me. And that was physically what I'm holding on to are my limitations. Even though I just completed my first full marathon a few weeks ago, I'm still holding on to the idea that I'm not fast enough, or that I'm not as fit as I used to be. So I'm going to be working on just letting that go. So that I can make space for my new performance and my new house with my new body after having two babies. And, you know, just this new me, as I'm getting older, I'm now 38. To compare even just three, four years ago, it really just makes a difference, especially after having children emotionally, something that I'm still, you know, holding on to, but will let go of or will work on letting go of is the pain of expectations. So every launch every episode, every blog post, I have an expectation, right? Not a defined one. But oh, I wonder how this will do? Of course, any result isn't going to give me joy, because I'm not thinking about it logically, I'm thinking about it emotionally, right? Like, what feeling? Is this going to give me like, Oh, I did this, right. A lot of times a lot of my posts, a lot of my episodes are just inspired, you know, from inner knowing, like, oh, I should talk about this, or I think, you know, they need to hear about that. And then you know, once that inspired action kind of takes place, I put it out there as kind of like, oh, how are they going to react to it? Because I was in this such a high rate this like, inspired action hive head? I want that same feeling. But of course, never should we do that we should just enjoy the process of doing it be excited that I did it be excited that, you know, I created it, and it's out there. And you know, whatever happens after that doesn't matter, because that wasn't the reason for it. And then mentally, I would say my limited money mindset. And when it comes to money, have a very logical mindset that I want to let go of my thinking is you have to work this many hours to make this much money, or you have to bring this many customers to be able to bring in this amount of money. When in entrepreneurship. That's not how it works, right? It's not logical, because all the reason anyone keeps doing it is because you actually can make money in a different way. Right. So that is what I will be working through in 2022. Where it doesn't have to be logical, you don't have to work a certain amount of hours to make a certain amount of money. So I will be working on breaking now because that is what we are constantly told. And that is what limits us and is limiting me right now. And so finally, the last question is, what will there be room for when you let all that go? Right? Like back to question five. So I guess that's like question five be right, because it's really reflecting on what will happen. I mean, by letting go of each of these, I'll be making room so I can get to the next level. So I can have a bigger impact. And really, my end goal is to leave my nine to five because who doesn't want to leave their nine to five. And I love my job, I love what I'm doing. But my business is like my passion, my purpose and to be able to do that full time would be my absolute dream. Alright, so guys, now you can grab your pen and paper. So you can write down the questions. And I will go ahead and share them with you. So question one is what happened in the last 12 months, both personally and professionally? Question number two, what were these lessons, each of the things that you've experienced that you can take with you in this year? Number three, and by this year, I'm in like 2022 and Who were you in January 2021. Question number four, who are you now? Question number five, what are you still holding on to from 2021 that is taking up space mentally, emotionally or physically or all three And question number six, you know from those things that you wrote in number five, what will there be room for when you let go of all that whatever is holding In your back. So guys, that is the end of your review. I would love to hear what you thought about this activity, how this has helped you how the podcast had helped you the blog, anything, I would love to hear from you. Because that would bring me so much joy to know that what I'm doing is impacting you guys in a positive manner and maybe motivating you pushing you to move forward to chase those scary dreams to chase those scary career dreams because so many of us hold ourselves back ultimately, that is really who holds us back most of the time are you because even though our mindset has been influenced by the things around us, it's up to us to decide to allow it to continue to hold us back. So I want to thank every single listener that has listened to this podcast that has shared it liked it. I truly appreciate every single one of you and I'm looking forward to season two.
