This is episode 116, and today I am going to be talking to you all about what is blocking you from manifesting everything you desire. It's so simple that you might not have even thought about how you are blocking yourself, like this self-sabotage that is just causing you to not manifest faster and for it to take so much longer to manifest. Just know that everything you desire is going to manifest. Trust in that. The thing is that we ourselves, you, are blocking yourself from manifesting, and I know that sounds terrible. I know that it can feel so heavy to hear like, hey, it's you. It is you, and that's the point of this episode. There's ways to overcome what you are doing right, how you are blocking yourself from the abundance that is your birth, right, like it is meant for you. So, if you're new here, my name is Dr Norma Reyes, I'm a spiritual and manifesting coach, and if you're looking for help and guidance in how to manifest quicker, faster or even just learning how to manifest, I am here to help you. Okay? So let's get started on what is blocking you. I'm going to talk about three different things so that you can understand this wholly. So the three definitions, the three things that I'm going to focus on, are expectations, ideals and standards. So they all sound very similar, but they are very different. An expectation is how you believe things should go, so an expectation is your belief on how things should go. An ideal is how you would like things to go. It's different from an expectation, because an expectation is on the belief of how things should go Right, like it's. It's kind of like closed fist, and an ideal is just like an open hand, right? And if you even think about that visually, if you have an open hand, are you more likely to receive or catch what's coming to you versus expectation having a fist. And I want to touch on standards because often times when people are told to maybe lower your expectations or change your expectations, they might lean on. You might lean on like well, I have standards. And yes, you can have standards.
Speaker 1:Right, and a standard can be based on an ideal and it can be based on an expectation. But a standard is also about the quality of a service or a product, not about you, not about things how they unfold. You know it can be like well, my standard is that everything goes as expected. Even say that, say that to yourself. My standard is that I expect everything to go as I would like it to right, or as I believe it should go.
Speaker 1:When you say something like that, then you get to kind of see the silliness behind even using the standards. Like what, I have standards. It's okay to have standards. They're based on your ideal, they're based on your expectation. But when you are trying to manifest or live in life and flow, a standard can just be a hindrance in the sense of your thinking. I'm not saying not to have standards. You can have standards, you can. It's just when those standards become your cross as you decide to die on right, like when you are like well, this is my standard and that's it. Well, maybe you need to learn something. Maybe there's a lesson behind what's going on in your life that's causing you're creating all of this chaos that is going on in your life.
Speaker 1:So, ideals, expectations and standards and really I just have standards there so that you can understand that, yes, standards are okay to have, but they are just based on either an ideal or an expectation that you have set for yourself. Basically, they're just a belief, right, like your belief in whatever it is that you are wanting to bring into your life, and then you are setting an expectation or an ideal. So when you are in should energy, that's being in expectation energy, and when you're in like I want or would like energy, that's ideal. But when you're in this should energy, this expectation energy, this is when you begin to get frustrated. That is when you are feeling yourself in that closed fist energy that doesn't allow you for flexibility, doesn't allow you to be able to grow and expand and receive, and then, if you can't grow, receive and be open, you get stuck right. You get in that ugly, frustrated, stuck energy.
Speaker 1:So I am all about setting ideals, goals and even standards, but your expectations can lead you into disappointment and rigidness. I'm going to say it again your inflexible expectations can lead you to disappointment and rigidness. I get it. I can get stuck in this energy too, the energy of expectation. The problem with expectations is that it leads to this should energy, which really is just entitled energy you may have never thought about it this way, but basically what you're saying when you're in this energy of wanting things to go only your way, you're being entitled, you're telling everyone in the universe that you know what's best and that's it.
Speaker 1:And in reality, we definitely don't know what's best. We might know what we would ideally like things to be, what we would like for ourselves, but we are not an individual in this universe. There's dynamics that go around, right, so what's best may not be best for everyone else, and so things need to unfold in a different way. But when you are stuck in expectation, you don't allow for that flexibility to go and then you don't receive when, in reality, the universe, god, source, whatever you believe in is the only one that knows what's best, because you're actually able to see everything and the universe they, god, whatever you want to call it actually allows us, allows you to live a life as you choose. We do have free will and that's why we are stuck in this energy, sometimes because we're choosing to be here. Universe, god, your ancestors, your spirit guides they don't want you to be in frustrated energy. We put ourselves here. How do we do that? By setting these rigid expectations that don't allow us the freedom to be open. You can set an ideal and go with that. You know, I would like things to unfold this way, I would like my data unfold this way, and when it doesn't, they're like okay. Well, it's okay, let me see how it goes. Let's see.
Speaker 1:Everything happens for a reason. You have to start talking to yourself in a softer language, because when you are focused and when you are pushing your expectations, your control of how you are wanting things to go, not only are you not receiving, not only are you blocking your abundance. You're creating this frustration within yourself. It's building up right, this anger, this resentment, this, this just spirally negative energy there's only going to lead you further away from what you're wanting. So how do you release expectation so that you can begin to manifest faster? The first step is just by recognizing that you're in this expectation energy. Recognizing that you're in this should energy, recognizing that you are wanting things to go your way and that's it. Reflect on that. And this happens. This can happen maybe once a day to you. This can happen all day to you. This can happen occasionally. It still happens to me and I still have to reflect on that. This is a work in progress that you'll have to do.
Speaker 1:Each time that you start to see that you're in this should energy, like, oh, I didn't want things to go that way. Okay, why didn't I want things to go this way? Why did I want it to be done a certain particular way, and reflect on that. There's nothing wrong with having expectations, as long as you don't start going into the should energy. And even when you're trying to reflect or meditate and think about these things, see how your body is responding to them. Because every time I say expectation, my hand wants to make a fist. So that tells me my, my internal beliefs are that expectations are fist, it's closed, is not allowing for things to come through. And when I say ideal, my hand automatically flows into this like open hand and we'll be waving around, like you guys can see me, but it is like oh, yeah, this is how I would like things to go. Even when I say it, I can hear it in my voice is just so much more flowy. So just start asking yourself questions, right.
Speaker 1:The first thing is just recognizing that you're in this expectation, this should, this has to be my way, energy. And that's the only way to start shifting yourself from this stuck, stuck. Even when I said the word stuck, both my hands turned into a fist. This stuck should my way, or controlling energy, and hence just want to go into fists as I'm saying the word stuck should my way, or controlling Right. Even say it to yourself. Say it to yourself and see how your body is responding to those words. How do you feel your tension? And those could be your signs, your signs that you are jumping into this expectation energy. Maybe there's something you say I know when I'm driving and I am leaning in this expectation energy on how I expect others to drive around me or how I expect my husband to drive he's driving and I'm on the passenger side I can see the difference of when I am in flow and being willing to just be and allow others to be. So you can start off small Right. You can start identifying the different areas of your life where you are leaning on expectation energy so hard that every time you encounter a person or situation where you are leaning hard on that expectation energy that you can't help to just be angry. Take that time to start to recognize that that's the only way to start shifting your energy.
Speaker 1:Next, be patient with yourself. Be patient with yourself because it is the first time that you are taking the time to see what you are causing. What are you bringing? What is this expectation energy causing for you? Because I am in the car with my husband and I have this expectation of how I would like him to drive. He saw that I softened that too. I said how I would like him to drive, but how I want him to drive. But he's going to drive how he's going to drive. And the more that I get annoyed by how he is driving, the more that I have those thoughts, the more that you know everything that he does is going to frustrate me. Everything that time to be like okay, getting into the car and say to myself everything's going to be okay, everything's going to be okay. He has never had an accident with me in the car, so what am I worried about other than I want him to drive the way I want him to drive right. Is that, should that want that controlling energy? So, after giving yourself some grace, you're human to learning process. No one's taught you this. No one's told you it's okay. Next, lean on affirmations or meditations to unblock this energy, because that is the only way that you can start to unravel this thinking.
Speaker 1:You're often told to set expectations. You're often given expectations right. We learn in the school system these are the expectations. This is what we expect from you. This you know. You go to you, start your job. You start your first job and they tell you what your expectations are. So it's perfectly normal to then believe that expectations are absolutely necessary.
Speaker 1:When it comes to manifesting, it's okay to have an expectation as long as you are not leaning into should energy. But expectations can often lead into that when you have the thought of I expected things to be different. I expected my life to be different. I expected myself to be in a different circumstance by XYZ age. By doing this, I expected that if I worked out every day, I was going to lose weight. I expected that if I followed all the manifesting tips that I've been told to do, that I would get what I wanted.
Speaker 1:Expectations can lead to frustration, but the more that you allow yourself to dismantle where this expectation, where this controlling, where this should energy is coming from, the more you can move forward. So first step is recognizing that you're in that energy that should my way, controlling energy that can come from unmet expectations. Next, give yourself grace. You're a human. If you've never had anybody teach you differently, how would you know any differently? So be compassionate with yourself, be gentle with yourself and next, start the process of dismantling expectations. You can lean on affirmations or meditation to unblock that energy. I'm going to share a few affirmations with you. Write down the ones that resonate with you. So get a piece of paper, pen, whatever you need to write these down. Come back to this audio if you need to and just write them down whichever ones resonate with you, and if none do, create your own. Create your own, alright. So here are 10 affirmations to help you release expectations and allow yourself to be in more flow and in alignment.
Speaker 1:I release all expectations and allow life to unfold naturally. I embrace the present moment without attaching expectations to it. I let go of specific outcomes and trust the journey I am on. I am open to the beauty of uncertainty and release the need for expectations. I surrender to the flow of life, releasing the grip of expectation. Thank you, each moment is a gift. Free from constraints of expectations, I release the need to control and trust in the process of life. My peace of mind is more important than clinging to expectations. I welcome the unexpected, knowing it may lead to something even better. I free myself from the burden of expectations and allow serendipity to guide me. So choose the affirmations that work for you. Lead them to cultivate a mindset of openness, acceptance, flexibility to help you navigate life with more ease and less attachment to specific outcomes, and this will allow you to manifest quicker. This will allow you to grow and have the life that you are wanting. So, to recap, ideals are how you would like things to go, expectations are how you believe things should go, and when you earn that energy of expectation, which may feel like stuck, should my way or controlling energy start recognizing that so you can shift that energy, give yourself grace and then start taking steps to dismantle the energy, to create new beliefs around how things need to be, allowing yourself to be more in flow and be more flexible.
