Healing Your Money Wounds
Do you feel a knot in your stomach when checking your bank account? Or perhaps you believe that wealth and abundance are meant for others, but not for you? These reactions aren't random – they're symptoms of money wounds that many of us carry silently, especially as women of color and daughters of immigrants.
Money wounds are emotional and energetic imprints formed during childhood and reinforced by cultural expectations. They manifest as beliefs like "money doesn't grow on trees," "rich people are greedy," or "I never have enough." Even as accomplished, intelligent women, these subconscious patterns keep us trapped in scarcity mindsets that sabotage our ability to receive abundance.
This episode unpacks where these wounds originate and provides a practical three-step framework for healing them. You'll learn how to acknowledge your specific money wounds through reflective questions, rewrite limiting beliefs with empowering alternatives, and create safety in your nervous system around receiving. The transformation happens when you recognize that abundance isn't about hustling harder – it's about allowing yourself to receive without resistance.
What makes this healing work particularly powerful is understanding that your worth isn't tied to financial struggle. As I share in the episode, "The universe doesn't reward struggle. It responds to alignment." When you heal your relationship with money, you open pathways to manifest from wholeness rather than lack.

This is Dr Norma Reyes, your host of the Manifesting Latino podcast, and today we're diving into something I know.
Speaker 1:So many of us carry quietly, our money wounds. If you have ever felt shame around money, anxiety when you check your bank account, or like the wealth that you desire is just not meant for people like you, this episode is for you. We're going to unpack what money wounds actually are, where they come from and how to start healing them so that you can manifest from a place of wholeness, alignment and true abundance. So, whether you're walking around your neighborhood washing dishes or just taking a few minutes for yourself. Let this conversation meet you exactly where you are. Let's begin with.
Speaker 1:What are money wounds? Money wounds are the emotional and energetic imprints we carry about money. Usually we pick these up in childhood. They're reinforced by culture and society norms and they can be passed down through generations. These sound like we can't afford that. Money doesn't grow on trees. People with money are greedy or selfish. I'm bad with money, I never have enough, and the list goes on. I'm sure you can think of your own that you have, that you have heard, and these beliefs get lodged into our nervous system. So even as adults, even as smart, capable, successful women, we can find ourselves stuck in patterns of scarcity, fear, guilt or avoidance when it comes to money. And when you're carrying a money wound, it can feel unsafe to receive more, even if you don't know that's what's going on. It can feel unfamiliar to keep it or, worse, you might even feel unworthy altogether. And where do these money wounds come from?
Speaker 1:Many of us, especially as women of color, as daughters of immigrants or first-generation success stories, we grew up watching money be a source of stress. Maybe there were arguments about bills, fear about not making rent. Maybe you were told not to ask for things because there just wasn't money for that. You might have learned to overgive, to feel worthy, to undercharge because you're just grateful to be here, or to hoard money because you're afraid it'll disappear. These are all coping mechanisms we've developed around money, not because we're broken, but because we were trying to stay safe but here's the truth. But because we were trying to stay safe, but here's the truth. You're allowed to want more, and you don't have to hustle, prove or sacrifice your peace to have it. This is where healing your money wounds will help you shift into abundance. So healing your money wounds isn't about becoming a millionaire overnight or pretending to be abundant when you don't. It's about telling the truth, softening your defenses and choosing to create a new relationship with money, one that is rooted in worth, safety and self-trust.
Speaker 1:Here are three steps, to begin with. So step one is acknowledging the wound. Ask yourself what was the earliest memory I have around money. What beliefs did I pick up in my home, culture or community around money? Be honest, this is for yourself. Name it, write it down and allow the first layer of healing to begin simply by acknowledging having awareness of where these money wounds lie. Next, rewrite your story.
Speaker 1:For every money wound there's a new belief waiting to be planted. So old belief I always have to work hard for money. New belief money flows to me with ease when I'm aligned with my purpose. Old belief if I have more, others will have less. New belief my abundance blesses everyone around me. So for this step, I want you to just make a list of all the different money wounds that you have, all the different beliefs that you have, all the beliefs that you've heard maybe things that you no longer think you believe, but maybe influencing you in some ways. Write it all down. Take a moment to pause here, to write it all down. Let it just come out as raw as it can be, and then start with the belief that pops out to you the most.
Speaker 1:So let's say you have a belief of like oh, people would never pay me X Y, z for that, whether it's in your career or your business or whatever. Or that you think you could never earn a certain amount of money in one day. Let's say I could never make 10,000 in a month or 10,000 in a day. Now take that belief and then create a new belief. Create a new belief that you agree with. So if you want to bring in more abundance, have a higher paying job or just in general feel comfortable with what you have, then that can look something like abundance flows freely to me. So if you want to be rooted in worthiness and deservingness, this can sound like I am worthy of receiving large sums of money with ease and joy. It is safe for me to have more sums of money with ease and joy. It is safe for me to have more. If you want to be rooted in expansion and possibility, you can say something like making 10k in a day is possible for me, and it gets to be fun and aligned. If you want it rooted in confidence and alignment, it can sound like the more I align with my purpose, the more abundance flows to me. If you want to be a powerful receiver, you can say things like I welcome wealth with gratitude and grace, or money flows to me when I allow myself to be seen, supported and celebrated. So those are just a few. The possibilities are infinite. What you want to do is create new beliefs that you plant into your subconscious slowly. You can do this through journaling these affirmations. You can do this by reciting them, and you can also do them by creating subliminals.
Speaker 1:Okay, so step three. I'm gonna review the last two steps Acknowledge the wound, rewrite the story, create safety around. Receiving is step three. The nervous system needs to feel safe with more. So start small practicing receiving compliments without deflecting, accept help without guilt, let money in without immediately pushing it out and allow yourself to begin to breathe into the discomfort. That's where your expansion is.
Speaker 1:When you start to allow your nervous system to be regulated, to calm yourself down, the more safe you feel with the amount of money you have or don't have, because maybe there's a part of you that feels like you don't have enough. When you are beginning to feel more comfortable with everything you do have or don't, you start to allow your nervous system to open up, because when we are in a state of fight, flight or freeze, we are shutting ourselves down, even if it's unintentional, and we can't receive more because we are in a state of arousal. So we have to calm ourselves down and be open to receiving. And I'm going to leave you with a journal prompt for today, and that is what is one money belief I'm ready to release. And what would it feel like to believe something new instead. I'll repeat that one more time what is one money belief I'm ready to release and what would it feel like to believe something new instead?
Speaker 1:So that is today's episode on how to heal your money wounds. Remember you are allowed to have more than enough. You are allowed to live a life of ease, overflow and joy, not because you earned it, but because you exist. The universe doesn't reward struggle. It responds to alignment and when you begin healing your money wounds, you open the door to receive in ways that feel grounding, nourishing and true to you.
Speaker 1:If this episode spoke to you, I want to invite you to keep going. You don't have to heal these patterns alone. There's two ways to work with me.
